The legend says Mrs. Winchester was afraid of ghosts of those killed by the Winchester rifle so she insisted her Victorian house be kept under constant construction for 38 years. Continuous adding of doors, secret passageways and stairways that lead nowhere were methods for confusing evil spirits and the result is a labyrinth that can keep you busy for hours.

Babe the Muffler Man is the last of the three fiberglass giants that used to overlook San Jose. Made popular in the 60’s by a fiberglass company, Muffler Men can be seen scattered beside California’s highways.

Sinking ghost town

Once called Saline City, Drawbridge is a ghost town on Station Island. Founded in 1876 and abandoned in 1979, today it is slowly sinking into the marshlands.
